
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Another victim of Saturday's crash on Interstate 10 died Monday, bringing the number of dead to six.
According to Trooper Russell Graham with Louisiana State Police, Ariel Hines, age 12, was pronounced dead just after noon by doctors at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
Nine others continue to recover in Baton Rouge area hospitals. Doctors reported some of the victims were upgraded to good condition Monday. Four of the children remained in critical condition.
There were 15 people in the van, including two adults and 13 children. The crash has now left five children and one adult dead.
The family was headed to Baton Rouge from Harvey when a tire blew out, causing their van to sideswipe a box truck and overturn. All of the victims were from Harvey, near New Orleans.
According to Louisiana State Police, the 13 children were not buckled up. All of the children were ejected when the van overturned.
