NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) - The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a dense fog advisory Tuesday morning for parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. The advisory will be in effect until 9 a.m.
Forecasters say dense fog will or already has developed over many locations along and north of a line that extends from Baton Rouge to Pascagoula, MS. They say visibilities will continue to fall to less than a quarter-mile throughout the morning hours.
Those taking to the roads are warned of the hazardous driving conditions the fog could cause, especially since in addition to the traffic normally experienced during the morning commute, holiday travelers have already started passing through the area.
Conditions are expected to begin to improve shortly after sunrise. The following parishes and counties are included in the advisory area:
Louisiana Parishes
Mississippi Counties
A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than a quarter-mile. Drivers are urged to slow down, use their low-beam headlights, leave plenty of distance ahead and give themselves more time to reach their destination.
