KENNETT, MO (WAFB) - Jury selection began Wednesday in the trial of a teacher from Central accused of cutting in line at a Walmart in Missouri, which eventually led to a big ruckus and her arrest.
The heated case of Heather Ellis, 24, has caused tension on both sides of a racial divide. During the incident in Kennett, Missouri in 2007, racial slurs were thrown out, officers were called and Ellis ended up in the back of a police car.
The case eventually grabbed national headlines and caught the attention of the Ku Klux Klan.
Ellis was charged with assaulting police officers, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace. She faces 15 years in prison if convicted.
