Man dies after getting shot in the chest

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 26-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday morning and police say the suspect is still on the loose.

According to reports, Brandon Charles Warner, 23, shot Quincy Demond Gaines in the 2400 block of America Street at Evergreen Street shortly before 10 a.m.  Bystanders saw Gaines in the street, picked him up and took him to Baton Rouge General Mid-City where he later died of his wounds.

Witnesses say Warner shot Gaines in the chest several times after chasing him following a fight between the two.  Following the shooting, police say Warner fled on foot.

Warner is a black male, 6'3", 170 lbs.  His last known address is 400 Evergreen Street.  When arrested, he will face one count of second degree murder.
