14 Assumption Parish teens arrested

ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports the arrest of 14 Assumption Parish teenagers in connection with various burglaries and vandalisms in the Labadieville, Paincourtville, and Pierre Part areas. 

A 15 and 16-year-old were arrested in connection with an April burglary on Highway 403 in Paincourtville. The boys were charged with simple burglary and were released to their parents.

Two more boys, ages 15 and 16, were arrested in connection with an April vandalism case off Highway 1003. The boys in this case were charged with criminal trespassing and simple criminal damage to property over $500. They were also released to their parents.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office has issued arrest warrants under the same charges for two other boys in relation to that case: Alton Herbert, age 17, and Donald Herbert, age 18.

An additional teenager remains a suspect and may be charged in the near future. Four more teens were arrested in connection with a burglary from last month.

The 13-year-old was charged with illegal possession of stolen things over $500. The 15-year-old was charged with one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and was released to his parents.

The 16-year-old was charged with one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and was placed in the juvenile facility in St. James Parish. The 17-year-old, Davian Smith of Labadieville, was arrested and charged with one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. Bond will be set by district court.

Detectives subsequently recovered a reportedly stolen laptop computer from the 13-year-old's residence and 12-gauge shotgun from a drainage ditch behind Kingston Subdivision in Labadieville.

Two girls and two boys were also arrested for a vandalism case from last month. Two girls, ages 14 and 15, and two boys, ages 14 and 15, from Pierre Part were identified as participants in this case. The four suspects were arrested and charged with three counts of simple burglary and three counts of simple criminal damage to property over $500.00.

Since the arrests, the sheriff's office has received additional complaints of vandalisms from camp owners in the Bayou Godel and Bay Natchez areas. The latest complaints are presently under investigation. Arrests are expected.
