LSU softball prepares of their season opener

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The 2019 softball season is right around the corner for LSU. The Tigers open against Tulsa in the Tiger Classic on Thursday.

The team is made up of 10 newcomers, nine freshman, and seven seniors. The squad is coming off a Super Regional loss to Florida State.

LSU SOFTBALL PREVIEW: Head Coach Beth Torina

Head coach Beth Torina said nothing is set in stone and the early part of the season will be mostly about experimenting with the lineup.

“Early in the season, you can mix some people around,” said junior infielder Amanda Doyle. “Throw some people in positions that maybe they haven’t been practicing a ton just to see where they fit best.”

“You can match people up based on their strength,” Torina added. “There are a lot of different things you can do with this group. So, it really depends on how this team comes out and what their personality is and who they decide they’re going to be as a group.”

The first pitch at Tiger Park for the Tigers against the Golden Hurricanes will be at 6 p.m. Thursday. The game will be show on SEC Network+.
