BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A local pediatric clinic is closing its facility after its provisional license expired, according to a Friday announcement from the health department.
The clinic, Pediatria Healthcare for Kids on Airline Highway, serves 23 patients, and the Louisiana Department of Health is trying to find alternative care providers. Pediatria has contacted all clients about the pending closure, according to the health department.
Pediatria Healthcare for kids was as a provider of pediatric day health care services medically fragile children, and had been operating on a 90-day provisional license issued by the health department in October 2018.
The health department said the clinic failed to comply with licensing standards, which resulted in the license expiring. The clinic had a recent history of failing to meet state licensing standards starting with a state investigation last July. The facility failed to achieve full compliance in subsequent inspections.
The department has received daily updates about the Pediatria clients' transition including census information, transfers, and discharges, and nursing staff reports.
The health department identified other Pediatric Day Health Care providers in the area that have capacity and properly trained and qualified staff to take in Pediatria’s clients.
