LSU basketball back home to host dangerous Razorbacks

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - With March Madness only a month away, the LSU finds itself in a three-team race for the 2018-2019 SEC crown.

Tennessee and the Tigers are 7-0 in conference play and the red hot Kentucky Wildcats are right on their heels with a 6-1 record.

The next test for the Tigers' 10-game winning streak is the always dangerous Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Razorbacks, winners of two of their last three games, are 12-8 overall this season and 3-4 in SEC play.

Arkansas is averaging just under 78 points a game, led by Daniel Gafford, Mason Jones, and Isaiah Jones.

Gafford is a big time player for the ‘Backs, leading the team with 16.1 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per contest, and 40 blocks this season.

Mason Jones is scoring 14.3 points per game and is second on the team with just under five rebounds a game.

Isiah Jones averages 13.9 points per game and leads the team with 31 steals on the year.

The Tigers (17-3, 7-0) beat the Razorbacks 94-88 (OT) in the first meeting between the two teams in January.

Gafford scored 32 points in Fayetteville and led the team with seven rebounds.

Reid led the Tigers with 27 points and Emmitt Williams was big on the boards with a game high 10 rebounds.

Tremont Waters leads the Tiger scoring attack with 15.3 points per game, followed by Skylar Mays (13.3), Naz Reid (12.9), and Ja’Vonte Smart (10.2).

Tipoff between LSU and Arkansas is set for Saturday at 5 p.m. and the game will air on the SEC Network.
