CLINICAL TRIAL: What kinds of exercise are best for elderly people’s health?

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Pennington Biomedical Research Center is conducting a clinical trial to study what types of physical activity most benefit the health of elderly people.

The REALPA study will evaluate three different fitness programs tailored to elderly people that can help improve muscle strength and lower the risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other health issues.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Be 65 to 80-years-old
  • Not be physically active
  • Not have any changes in medication in the last 30 days
  • Have a BMI between 18.5 and 34.9 (click here to calculate BMI)

Compensation of up to $500 is being offered for the study.
