NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis was fined $50,000 by the NBA for his agent requesting a trade through the media.
Rich Paul, Davis' agent, violated the collective bargaining agreement with his actions.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said Davis will not be seeking a contract extension, and had requested a trade through Paul.
According to Wojnarowski, Paul said Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him the chance to win consistently and compete for a championship.
Paul also said that Davis wanted to be honest about his intentions, which is why he made the announcement now.
The Pelicans could offer Davis a super-max contract extension of $240 million this summer. If he is not traded or if he doesn’t sign an extension, he will become a free agent in the Summer of 2020.
