BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - One man is behind bars after striking a man in the head with a gun, shooting him in the face, and kidnapping him at gunpoint.
Police say the shooting happened in the 3000 block of Quebec Drive on Sunday, Jan. 20. The victim was transported from a different location to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the face.
According to the arrest report, Juan Luna-Garcia called the victim and told him to meet up so they could take an out of town trip together.
The victim arrived and Garcia got into the passenger side of the victim’s truck. Garcia accused the victim of having an affair with his girlfriend. When the victim denied the allegations, police say Garcia struck him in the head with a gun, then shot him in the face.
Police say Garcia held the gun to the victim’s torso and ordered him to drive away from the house. Fearing for his life, the victim said he complied, and was then ordered to return back to the house, where Garcia got out of the vehicle and the victim fled.
Detectives responded to a house in the 800 block of Hammond Manor Drive, approximately two miles from the scene of the shooting, and observed the truck’s drive side window damaged by gunfire and a black semi-automatic pistol on the floorboard.
Garcia was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. The victim is in stable condition.
