BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Catholic High Senior got a personal shout out from one of the school’s alumni on Thursday.

Karsten Brown has been accepted into the West Point, U.S. Military Academy in Ithaca, NY. It’s actually the second military acceptance Brown has received.

Catholic High said in a tweet that Brown was accepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.

Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA) called Brown at school to personally congratulate Brown on his accomplishment.

“You’re a stud. Congratulations on all your hard work and dedication. Like I said the last time this doesn’t ‘just happen.’ This is a result of people’s hardwork,” Graves told Brown.

Acceptance into The United States Military Academy at West Point has many requirements including, excellent grades, leadership, physical stamina, and a recommendation by a politician.

Graves recommended Brown on to be accepted into both academies.

Brown will now have to decide which military academy to attend, which Graves pointed out is a very good thing.
