Eagles fans arrive in Saints territory, confident they’ll win

KENNER, LA (WVUE) - “E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!” Fans chanted as they walked through the airport.

A flock of Eagles fans landed in New Orleans Friday afternoon ahead of the highly anticipated match up against the Saints.

"95 percent was Eagles fans," Dennis Askey said about the flight.

“I tried to give some green beads to Saints fans. I said, ‘Hey, you want some of these?’ And the guy goes ‘No, that’s alright,’ but the lady goes, 'I’m going to wrap those around your neck!’” Dave Kim said.

“They handed out beads. The captain kept saying ‘Go Eagles,’ and he kept saying, ‘I hope we’re taking you to the Super Bowl,’” Margie Laitner said.

For many, the trip was also an excuse to visit New Orleans for the first time.

"I've heard great things about the atmosphere, about the Superdome, and I think the Eagles are going to win, so why not come?" Matt Dedominicis said.

“I wanted to, one, see New Orleans, and I love the Eagles, so it seemed like a good combo,” Laitner said.

As for the two Super Bowl MVP quarterbacks facing off, Eagles fans said they're not worried.

“Nick Foles broke all of Drew Brees' records at the high school,” Tom Weick said.

"He took all the records from Brees in high school, so our St. Nick is going to do it," Glen Pratt said.

Despite the Eagles' devastating loss against the Saints in November, fans from Philly are confident they'll get revenge this time around.

"It's a different team now. We got different players in, and I think we'll give you guys a good shot," Joanne Capano said.

"We got St. Nick this time," Pratt said.

"Foles is St. Nick," Ann Pratt said.

"Once we came, and Foles will deliver," Kim said.

While they're confident, they do think it will be a close game.

"I'm going birds 24-21," Dedominicis said.

“I think it’s going to be a great game. I think Nick will beat out Drew, and it will be an Eagles win,” Capano said.
