Suspect dead after officer-involved shooting on North Martin Luther King Hwy

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - One suspect is dead as a result of an officer-involved shooting at a gas station on North Martin Luther King Highway, according to Sgt. Jeff Keenum, with Lake Charles Police.

LCPD was responding to a weapons complaint around 12:51 a.m. on Jan. 11, said Keenum. The caller told LCPD a man entered the gas station and threatened him with a gun.

Keenum said the officers found the suspect nearly a block away from the gas station. An officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect with the gun is dead.

The LCPD officer was not injured, Keenum said.

Louisiana State Police are still investigating this incident. KPLC and FOX29 is still following this story and will follow up once we receive more information.
