BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - One of LSU’s new additions to the football team is on campus and starting classes to get ready for full participation in spring drills, according to a report.
CBSSports.net reported Derek Stingley Jr., a 5-star cornerback from Baton Rouge, is already turning heads.
The freshman defensive back actually started practicing with the Tigers when they were getting ready to face UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. Head coach Ed Orgeron had high praise for Stingley after seeing him practice, and apparently, he wasn’t the only one impressed.
Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and quarterback Joe Burrow had good things to say about Stingley.
“He looks like the best guy we’ve got,” the article quoted Aranda as saying after a practice.
“No, he does not look like a 17-year old, I will tell you that,” Burrow reportedly said after seeing Stingley in practice.
Many eyes will be on the No. 1 cornerback prospect when the Tigers return to the field in March for spring practice.
