Heroin overdose deaths in EBR Parish coming down, but those from fentanyl rising

EBR coroner examines drug deaths in 2018

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - With the New Year now here, the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office is looking at the number of deaths, and there are a few disturbing trends.

For example, Coroner Beau Clark points to a climb in the number of heroin overdoses, but does see hope after seeing that number come down some in 2018. He’s also seeing a rise in the amount of overdoses related to fentanyl.

The coroner says in total, East Baton Rouge had 100 homicides in 2018, a number that has him worried.
