NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Michael Thomas broke Joe Horn’s 14-year old franchise record for receiving yards in a Saints season. Thomas beat the mark with a 6-yard reception in the fourth quarter.

“It’s a blessing. I just want to be judged off my progress every year. Year in and year out I feel like we play this game to win. That’s the most important thing. The record is there, but there’s not that much to talk about,” said Michael Thomas.

“He’s got so many more significant things that are going to happen in his career. Yet, he’s a fantastic player for us. It was good to see him get a milestone like that. For him it’s all about winning though. I don’t know how old the record was. I had a year to coach Joe Horn. He was a good player for us in ’06. I’m happy for Mike,” said Coach Payton.

Horn racked up 1,399 yards in 2004 with the Black and Gold. Horn was in attendance for the Saints-Panthers game rocking Thomas’ jersey.

Thomas needed just 23 yards to break the record entering the contest, he finished with 29.
