Troopers identify motorcyclist killed in crash; driver of car cited for failure to yield

Driver cited in deadly motorcycle crash

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A motorcyclist is dead after a crash Wednesday morning and the driver who hit her was cited by authorities.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as Evelyn Carrasco, 40, of Baton Rouge.

The wreck happened on Siegen Lane near Perkins Road around 6 a.m.

Sr. Tpr. Bryan Lee with LSP Troop A said the investigation up to this point shows Carrasco was riding south on Siegen on a 2016 Yongfu motorcycle. Lee added Folakemi Stinson, 27, of Baton Rouge, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Azera and failed to yield.

According to Lee, the impact of the collision threw Carrasco off her motorcycle. He said she was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office. He added Stinson was not injured.

Blood samples were taken from both drivers for analysis, which is standard procedure for deadly crashes on Louisiana roadways, but investigators do not believe impairment was a factor in this wreck.

Stinson was cited for failure to yield, Lee reported. He said additional charges are pending.
