USPS truck loses load of mail on Jefferson Highway; no first class mail lost

Mail spill on Jefferson Hwy.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - People driving on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge Thursday witnessed a bit of an odd sight: mail scattered all over the road.

Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, a United States Postal Service truck lost a large amount of its load on the highway, leaving leaflets, envelopes, and paper scattered about. No need for residents to worry, however. The post office says no first class mail was on the truck.

This afternoon a truck carrying undeliverable mail to a recycling facility lost a large amount of its load along Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. The material in question was all undeliverable marketing mail. There was no first class mail on the truck and no mail that was to be delivered. While the spilling of the recyclable material is unsightly and unfortunate, there was no mail that was damaged or lost from the incident.
